If you're insane enough like farm optimal gems like myself, you'll need a Cursed Heavy Abyssal Bloodgem. A good one of these will skyrocket the AR of most of your weapons on a 50/50 Quality build, especially the high skill scaling weapons, which would then have very good scaling in both strength and skill. For Ludwig's Holy Blade, which already has good Quality scaling, the best gems are the usual 27% cursed physical gems. For weapons like the Beast Cutter, Boomhammer, & Hunter's Axe, you want to farm Adept Blunt gems, as they give a bit of a higher % increase than the 27% physicals. Not needed, but optimal, also a pain to farm. I decided to maximize damage in exchange for the 3 points loss to VIT, as in the FRC dungeons you have like no HP anyway, and you can boost it with runes if need be. The whole point of Bloodborne combat is to be aggressive and avoid getting hit. Good luck!!!
