The Great Scythe has MASSIVE range, so connecting with it and Ninja Flipping will make you very difficult to hit, but missing will leave you vulnerable for a while. Try to attack when the enemy is to get the counter damage on top of DM Blade.
35 poise will allow one, two-handed hit from most small weapons without staggering, if it's bigger than the Great Scythe it will break poise.
Now, you be careful out there and bring in some heads.
