He´s the apprentice of Shiva of the east and was ordered to keep learning the art of the Katana until his master came back from Lordran. After 4 years of waiting, he was a Katana master himself and travelled to Lordran in order to search for his Sensei. Arriving in the darkroot garden they reunited and he was sent on a new mission to learn the arts of the sunlight. After discovering their covenant he was trained by Solaire of Astora for 10 years and thus became the sunlight smaurai he is today. He´s constantly seeking a new challenge and still trains with his former master Shiva from time to time. Some say he´s looking for a worthy apprentice to teach in the arts of sunlight and Katanas, for he is the only one who has perfected and combined these two arts of combat.
