Fairly straightforward. Buff the blade, hit things hard, be fast, win. TWoP instead of WoG because WoG is easily avoided. If I'm fast and you're slowed down, then I just become really fast. "But TWoP is dumb!!1! Like, it makes me slow and I hate it!" It's in the game. It's legitimate. Find a way to get over it and expand the meta.
Lightning on shields makes them block more Lightning damage, so why not. Grass Crest Shield is useful for when the Claymore is held in two hands. Fire Effigy Shield would also be good when going for pure damage reduction.
